I was just sitting here thinking on all of the misfortunes happening within my perimeter and within my life and then so suddenly God brought it to my remembrance the scripture that reads, “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalms 46:10). A scripture I frequented during my adolescent years and early adulthood. Life is full of mysteries and things occur without our expectation. We experience break-ups, lose jobs, grieve loved ones, argue with our best friend(s), and sometimes we even become homeless for a while. Over the years of living and experiencing some of what life has to offer, I have concluded that it is okay to embrace the negative experiences we go through. Whatever people and “circumstances” may have meant for your bad, know that God will turn it around to work out in your favor. Genesis 50:20 reads, “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today”. We experience bad things in life and we allow it to consume us and our very being. In this way, over time you may go through sadness, anger, anxiety, and even depression. But as the scripture in both Psalms 46:10 and Genesis 50:20 reads, God has already begun to work out the situations and circumstances for our betterment. What I have trained my brain (neuroplasticity) to do is to focus on the positive outcome of what looks like a terrible situation. We can begin to re-route our thought process by saying, “Lord, I thank you for what just happened” or “This will work out for my good”. And every time you say that after something bad happens, not only are you confirming your faith but also after a while it becomes a common thing to you. Your mind will automatically pick it up but your spirit will first have already adjusted to knowing that God is the commander of your life and that very situation or bad thing will have to be obedient to who God is. Society allows us to believe that a bad situation will always be just that. But I challenge you to go against the grain and stand firm in knowing good things can be birthed from what seems like a negative circumstance. Know that positive happenings do occur when we least expect it. In an entire moment’s notice, a complete, drastic change of events can come forth, because of who God is.
Circling back to the beginning of this blog, I mentioned there were some misfortunes occurring in my life. One of those things, I would like to mention, is my vehicle. I know the enemy is trying to stop me because I have recently been putting forth the effort to make better changes in my life. Things that will help me to grow as a person and in what God desires of me. In this way, I will need a vehicle to be able to get around to various places. So my vehicle is a 2013 and fairly new enough to not be experiencing all of the difficulties it has. I have spent hundreds of dollars in an attempt to keep my vehicle up to par and every time something else has gone wrong. However, because I know things will work out for my good, I have sincerely placed my trust in God and I trust and believe this is truly about to work out for my good. So no need in being discouraged or frustrated about it. You see, my brain has been rewired in this way: to believe that whenever something bad happens it will work out for my good. It’s become a part of who I am.
So I just want you all to be encouraged. Whatever it is you are going through, know that God has already begun to turn that “thing” around to work out in your favor. And let that situation know it has NO POWER over you or your life. As I have said before, it is never too late to change your “stinkin thinkin”. If you didn’t get the job you wanted, recognize it is because God has something entirely better for you. If you failed a test, know this is an opportunity to learn the material in a way you may not have thought of before. If you just experienced a break-up, know they weren’t meant for you and in due time the right person will show their face. This is why people say, “Look on the bright side”. A good thing is bound to happen and never a moment too soon.
Be encouraged! Everything that happens is for your good ❤
