It’s been awhile since I last posted. But within the interim God has truly been doing a new thing in me 🙂 . I decided to take a break from a number of things and just focus purely on my relationship with God…and I have to say it’s been calming…it’s been relaxing…and it has been relieving.
As you can tell from the title, I am going to be discussing our gifts from God and how it is relevant to what I have just said. Our relationship with God is such an important aspect of our lives. I did not realize this before, but my eyes now see and I perceive well why He was pressing me so much about getting my life lined up with His will. Philippians 1:6 reads, “God is the one who began this good work in you, and I am certain he won’t stop before it is complete on the day that Christ Jesus returns”. I absolutely love this scripture because it brings to thought the love Jesus has for each and every one of us. As I was taking a hiatus away from everything, God was pressing this scripture into the very depths of my life and my heart. He had started a work in me from a very long time ago and I strayed from the path, but I am grateful to be here again and more. As I was working on my relationship with God he began to remove all of the negativity, hurt, angst, pain and un-forgiveness from my life that I had picked up along the way for many, many years. What a process…it was such a long and painful journey but it had to be done because now I feel light as a feather. God was removing all of the toxicity from my life and while He was cleaning me out He was also growing and maturing me spiritually. I found myself more intrigued about His word and praying and talking to Him daily. Within all of that He was also growing the gift He had given to me…the gift to sing.
Now that I have said all of that, I wanted provide you with an advisory. Whatever it is you find yourself holding on to, let it go. Let go of dead weight. Let go of those things that hold you back. Let go of unnecessary baggage that only hinders you and holds you back from becoming your best self. What’s inside luggage? Everything you believe you would need for wherever it is you are going. And when you carry that luggage it’s heavy and tends to hold you up from getting to your destination more quickly than it would had you just left the luggage behind. What about a track runner? Or a swimmer? Have you ever noticed they wear the least amount of clothes before performing or while they are practicing? Why do you think that is? It is because they want nothing to hold them back from reaching their goal. They are light and free to move about as they need to. So in saying that, free yourself “for He who the Son sets free is free indeed”. God wants us to be free of the things of the world, not being held back by anything so that we can reach our goal to be with Him.
And while we are on this journey, use your God-given gift to free others of their bondage. Start a chain reaction of helping others so that someone else can be free and use their gift to free another and so forth. God has given me the gift to sing and I post this video in hopes that it will serve as a blessing and encouragement to the next person (sorry the video posted sides ways 😉 ):
